With a busy year in the books for Cal Poly Pomona baseball, one in which the team reached the College World Series for the second-consecutive season, classwork was important and the players didn't shy away. As a team baseball recorded the highest team GPA for the year in Bronco Athletics. 

Michael Koval, a junior pitcher for the Broncos in 2016 has been named a Bronco Student-Athlete of the Week after posting a 3.67 GPA in the classroom over the course of the 2015-16 academic year. 

The business administration major was selected in the 11th-round of the 2016 MLB draft by the Seattle Mariners and currently plays for the Everett Aquasox.
