Cal Poly Pomona senior Phoenix Shackelford torched the nets on opening weekend, averaging 22.5 points per game on 17 of 34 shooting (.500), and averaged 7.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists as the Broncos went 2-0 to open the season with convincing home wins over nationally-ranked Seattle Pacific and Azusa Pacific. In Friday's win over No. 21 SPU, Shackelford scored 24 points with 8 rebounds and four assists, followed by a 21-point, 7-rebound, 6-assist effort in Saturday's win over Azusa Pacific.
