Broncos fall just short in 1-0 loss at CSU Monterey Bay

– Sound goalkeeping from Cal State Monterey Bay's Andrea Davis and an opportune goal by the Otters were the difference in Cal Poly Pomona's 1-0 loss in California Collegiate Athletic Association women's soccer Sunday.

Davis made eight saves and Isabella Ortuno scored off a rebound past Broncos GK Ashley Salerno in the 72nd minute of play.

The loss puts CPP at 6-8 overall and 2-8 in the CCAA, while CSUMB is 3-9-2, 2-7-1.

Sophomore Valerie Strawn fired four SOG and totaled six shots, while junior Britany Garrett had two SOG and three shots. The Broncos outshot the Otters 19-7, but came away scoreless.

CPP returns to Kellogg Field on Friday when it takes on Cal State Stanislaus. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m.
