WALNUT CREEK -- Thirty-four Cal Poly Pomona student-athletes earned 2008-09 California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic Awards, conference commissioner Robert J. Hiegert announced July 23.
"Our student-athletes put forth a tremendous commitment toward their respective sports and academics,'' Cal Poly Pomona Director of Athletics #Brian Swanson# said. "These 34 individuals have set high standards for themselves in their academics and we're very proud of what they have accomplished.
"We have a well-respected group of coaches and academic advising program, who continue their dedication toward developing each student-athlete.''
To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be a varsity letter winner who competed in one of 13 CCAA-sponsored sports and record a grade point average of 3.40 or above in a minimum of 24 semester or 36 quarter units.
The 34 Cal Poly Pomona award winners in their respective sports: men's basketball: Kyle Krause, Jimmy Miyasaka; women's basketball: Unique Anderson, Rosslyn Beard; Reyana Colson, Jessica Duran, Ally Smith; baseball: Jordan Alcantar, Chris Brehm, Richard McDowell, Robert, Palmer, Casey Yokubaitis; men's soccer: Nick Costanza; women's soccer: Bethany Meichsner, Stephanie Sandino, Valerie Strawn; women's tennis: Fallon Blattner, Mallory Brady, Brianne Cyrus, Kaitlin Wooldridge; volleyball: Jasmine Davis, Anne-Marie Hofmans, Rocio Vargas, Jenna Young; men's cross country: Luis Briseno, Clark Selters; women's cross country/track and field: Denise Salceda, Tiffany Turner; women's track and field: Allison Brewer, Jennifer Cryer, Megan Emami; men's track and field: Anthony Drake, Connor Duckworth and Derek Wong.
