SAN FRANCISCO
-- Junior Reyana Colson became the 22nd player in Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball history to score 1,000 career points and reserve La'kenya Simon-West scored 15 points -- all 3-pointers -- as the visiting Broncos defeated San Francisco State 68-66 in overtime Friday in CCAA play.

The Broncos, who won their eighth straight, are off to their best start since the 2000-01 NCAA title team that opened 18-2. CPP is 12-2 and tied for the top spot in the CCAA at 9-1 with UC San Diego.

CPP, which led nearly the entire second half, was forced into overtime when Dominique Hunter scored on a layup with 20 seconds left in regulation that put the score at 57-57 apiece.

Donisha Tate put SFSU up, 65-63 with a layup with 1:30 remaining in OT. But Colson answered right back with a 3-pointer and CPP remained in front for the duration.

Colson led CPP with 16 points and Simon-West with 15. Senior Stephisha Walton had 11.

Tate scored a game-high for 20 for SFSU (7-11, 3-7)

BRONCO NOTES: Simon-West's 15 points were a career high… Her 5 3-pointers are the most for a CPP player since Andrea Ohlssen hit five treys against Seattle Pacific on Dec. 29, 2007. Ohlssen, who now plays for SFSU, was held without a 3-pointer in two attempts… Colson now ranks 10th in career free throws (285) and ninth in FT attempts (431). She needs 46 points to surpass Jackie White for 21st on the all-time scoring chart. White scored her 1,054 points in just two seasons (1981-83).
