LA JOLLA –
Chelsea Carlisle's 3-pointer with 25 seconds left gave No. 10 UC San Diego a come-from-behind victory over visiting Cal Poly Pomona 71-69 in California Collegiate Athletic Association women' s play Thursday night.

CPP grabbed the lead in the early going of the second half and led throughout until Carlisle's bomb from the top of the key. The loss is the second straight for CPP, now 12-4 overall and 9-3 in the CCAA. UCSD improved to 16-1 and 11-1.

Junior Reyana Colson led the Broncos with 20 points on 8-of-16 shooting. Sophomore Megan Ford followed with 14 points and senior Stephisha Walton registered her fourth double-double of the season with 11 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

The loss was a tough one, indeed, as CPP grabbed the lead with 19:28 remaining on Ford's shot in the paint. She hit two more field goals and Colson added another in a two-minute span and CPP led 43-38 with 17:28 left.

After Leiliani Martin's 3-pointer tied the game at 46-46 with 14:08 left, the Broncos got hot and rode the momentum with a 12-0 run over the next five minutes. Ford and La'kenya Simon-West hit two baskets inside, and Ebony White hit two free throws to push CPP out front 52-46. Simon-West followed with another shot inside, then Colson and Walton each had shots in the paint and CPP led 58-46 with 9:01 left.

But the Tritons, who have not lost at home this season in nine attempts, answered back with a run of their own. Freshman Emiily Osga got the run going with an inside basket that began a 9-0 run that cut CPP's lead, 58-56, with 7:04 left.

After Carlisle hit a three-point play, Colson and Ford each responded with baskets in the paint and CPP led 62-56 with 6:10 remaining.

Twice UCSD cut the lead to two and each time CPP answered. Tiffany Hunter's pair of free throws cut CPP's lead to 66-64 with 1:58 remaining, but Walton scored with an inside basket to push the lead to four, 68-64.

On UCSD's next possession, Martin scored low and CPP led 68-66 with 1:31 left.

Colson, then followed with an inside move and drew the foul. She hit the first, but missed the second and CPP led 69-66 with 1:24 left.

Hunter then drove inside and drew the foul from White. She hit both shots and CPP clung to a 69-68 lead with 1:10 remaining.

The Broncos worked the ball around and looked to extend the lead, but a shot from Walton was off.

On UCSD's possession, Martin drove inside and missed a layup, but gathered the offensive rebound. The Tritons called time out, setting up Carlisle's heroics.

After UCSD grabbed the lead, Colson drove to the basket. She missed the shot and the ball was turned over when she and Walton were in a scrum for the ball.

Carlisle had a shot at extending the lead when she was fouled by Rosslyn Beard. But she missed both and CPP had one final chance with six seconds left. CPP brought the ball up court, but Colson's shot was off.

Carlisle scored a game-high 22 points and teammate Tiffany Hunter added 17.

CPP travels to Cal State East Bay on Saturday.
