POMONA, Calif. - The Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw Sunday at home against San Francisco State.
CPP now stands at 6-3-3 overall and 4-3-3 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association as part of a crowded South Division race. The visiting Gators hold marks of 7-2-3 overall and 6-2-2 in league play.
The Broncos controlled much of the match's tempo, as CPP outshot SFSU by a total of 21-6 while recording 10 shots on goal as opposed to the Gators' six.
SFSU goalkeeper Annicia Jones collected 10 saves on the day, as the Gators recorded their sixth-straight shutout. The Broncos'
Gloria Gonzalez and Maya Quinn sent shots on goal in the final two minutes of regulation but Jones managed to turn away the attempts.
Gonzalez also put together chances earlier in both overtime periods but the CPP attack couldn't break the scoreless tie.
Valerie Strawn led the Broncos in shots Sunday with five, while Gonzalez and
Britany Garrett contributed three apiece. CPP goalkeeper
Sarah Rohman collected three saves en route to the shutout.
The Broncos will return to action on Friday when they challenge Cal State San Bernardino on the road at 11:30 a.m.
