Box Score

POMONA, Calif.
– Despite recording a goal in the final minutes, the Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer team suffered a 2-1 defeat Sunday athome against Cal State San Bernardino.

The Broncos fall to 6-5-3 overall and 4-5-3 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, while the Coyotes improve to 8-5-1overall and 6-5-1 through league play.

The CPP offense rallied for a 17-9 shot advantage through the 90 minutes of play and 10 of the attempts landed on frame. Coyotes' goalkeeper Tiffany Mallick posted seven saves to pick up the victory
for the visitors and Broncos' netminder Sarah Rohman ended the match with four stops of her own.

CSUSB struck first in the 12th minute, when Kristina Gomez fired a shot past the keeper after receiving a pass from Jani Carmona. The two teams traded chances in the opening half but the Coyotes' 1-0 lead
stood at intermission.

The Broncos' attack came out strong in the second half, as CPP registered three shots on goal within the first three minutes of action out of the break. Mallick managed to turn back all three
opportunities though.

The Coyotes stretched their advantage to 2-0 at the 87:18 mark, with Jenna Sanchez sliding a nice through ball in for Unity Beddingfield, who placed a tough-angle shot past Rohman for the CSUSB score.

Exactly nine seconds later, the Broncos would get on the board for their first score of the afternoon. Valerie Strawn found room to work with on the left side and sent a ball toward the box for
Jennifer Rivera. Starting with her back to the goal, Rivera lifted a shot over the leaping Mallick.

The Broncos couldn't tack on an equalizing score though and the score stayed 2-1 to the final whistle.

Up next for CPP is a Friday match at home against 22nd-ranked UC San Diego. Kickoff for that contest is set for 7 p.m.
