Reyana Colson each scored 17 points, but Humboldt State featured balanced scoring and went on to a 70-63 victory in California Collegiate Athletic Association women's baskeball Thursday night.
The loss drops CPP to 16-5 overall and 13-4 in the CCAA, while HSU improved to 15-6, 13-4.
Senior Brittney Taylor led the Jacks with 21 points and 14 rebounds, while Andrea Bobic scored 13 points, Bree Taylor 10 and eight rebounds and freshman Lisa Petty 12.
The Broncos jumped out to a 12-3 lead in the first seven minutes, taking advantage of six HSU turnovers.
Over the next six minutes, HSU put together a 14-5 run and the two teams went into hafltime with HSU leading, 27-26.
With 7:28 leftt, HSU built a five-point lead 51-46, but the Broncos built a 5-0 mini-run to tie at 51-51 with 5:53 remaining.
Petty hit a jumper with 3:50 leftt and extended HSU's lead to 59-54 and over the next three minutes Taylor took over, scoring four points with two rebounds and a blocked shot.
CPP is off Friday and completes the weekend with its Saturday game at Sonoma State. Tipoff is 5:30 p.m.
