Jenzen Torres ripped a grand slam in the seventh inning and Cal Poly Pomona went on to defeat Cal State Monterey Bay 11-5 in the four-game series finale Sunday at Scolinos Field.
The Broncos are 9-4 oveall and 3-1 in the CCAA as they prepare for this week's series against CSU Dominguez Hills.
CSUMB led 2-1 through two innings as Otters starter Thadd McAlpin shut out the Broncos for the three more innings. CPP struck with three runs in the sixth to take the lead, before the onslaught took place in the seventh.
Tyson Edwards ripped a two-out single to center that scored
Travis Taijeron (walk) and
Joe Villa, who led off with a single. Edwards was forced out on the play when he tried to stretch the single into a double.
Torres followed with a run-scoring single to score
Erik Riedel, who singled to right.
The Broncos scored five runs on two hits and the benefit of an Otter error in the seventh. Edwards reached base on a bases-loaded walk and Torres then followed with a 1-1 delivery from Otters' reliever Corey Lathrom.

Keith Powers (2-0) earned the win in relief of starter
Ryan Dunn. He threw 2 2/3 innings and allowed one hit and one strikeout. Dunn threw 4 1/3 innings and allowed six hits, two runs and struck out three.
McAlpin struck out six and walked four in 5 1/3 innings.
Torres finished 2-for-4 with five RBI, while
Robert Palmer had two RBI in four at-bats.
Travis Taijeron was 3-for-3 and Edwards finished with three RBI.
