POMONA – On a day where rain was imminent, poor weather didn't phase the Cal Poly Pomona baseball team one bit.
The Broncos struck with three-run first innings in each game and went on to sweep No. 18 Western Oregon 6-2 and 6-3 in 5 innings on Tuesday at Scolinos Field. Sophomore
Jenzen Torres led the way with a 3-run homer in the first inning of the opener and CPP scored three runs on four hits in the first frame in the second game that was shortened to five innings due to rain.
CPP, now 3-2 overall, returns to Scolinos Field for a weekend series against Saint Martin's, beginning with a single game Friday that begins at 2 p.m. Western Oregon fells to 0-6.

Torres gave his team the lift it needed, as he belted fastball from Wolves' starter Kevin Gamble over the left-center field wall that scored
