LOS ANGELES – Cal Poly Pomona made certain that its six-game losing streak would come to an end Friday night, scoring four runs in the second and two more in the third in a 7-4 win over Cal State L.A. at Reeder Field.
The Broncos are above .500 once again at 18-17 overall and 10-12 in the CCAA, while CSULA dropped to 14-17, 12-10.
CPP scored its four runs in the second with two outs.
Robert Palmer's RBI-single scored
Stephen Gonzalez. Two batters later,
Tyson Edwards scorched a two-run single to center and CPP led 3-0.
Erik Riedel added the fourth run when he scored on a passed ball.
In the third,
Jenzen Torres led off with a triple to center and one out later, Gonzalez ripped a two-run HR to right and the Broncos were in complete control.
Torres and Gonzalez each had two hits, while Riedel added a double.
Senior
Jarett Attardearned the win for CPP and improved to 1-1 on the season. He threw 7 innings, scattered seven hits, allowed three runs (all earned) and struck out three.
Joshua Krist earned his sixth save on the season. He threw 2 innings and allowed three hits, one run (earned) and struck out one.
Matt Miraldi and Jordan Castro each had two hits for CSULA.
