ARCATA
-- Humboldt State took advantage of three free kicks, but none loomed larger than Ray Limb's goal in double overtime as the host Lumberjacks defeated Cal Poly Pomona in men's soccer on Sunday.

The Broncos, now 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the CCAA, head north once again this week when they play at Chico State on Friday. Kickoff is 7 p.m.

Juniors Nicholas Jimenez (Norco) and Wuta Beta (Fresno) gave CPP a 2-1 lead with goals in the first half and it looked as if the Broncos would earn a road conference sweep. But in the 87th minute, HSU's Josh Suggs scored on a free kick and the game would end in regulation at 2-2.

CPP fired off two shots in the first overtime, but the game was extended to double OT.

"I can't fault our effort today,'' head coach Lance Thompson said. "We played well all weekend. I didn't think we missed a beat. The free kicks were the difference maker today.''
