ARCATA
-- Junior Jennifer Rivera has shown a penchant for scoring goals through the first four games of Cal Poly Pomona's women's soccer season.

The Hacienda Heights native and Mt. SAC transfer gave the Broncos the lead for good Sunday with an unassisted goal in the 38th minute as CPP defeated Humboldt State 1-0 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play.

It marked Rivera's third game-winning goal of the season and puts CPP at 3-0-1 overall and 1-0-1 in CCAA play.

"A very good game today,'' said head coach Isabelle Harvey, whose team has now shutout its opponents in 380 minutes to begin the year. "Defensively, we're stopping people and as a whole, we have a tough mindset on shutting teams down.

"We picked up four points on the weekend with a tough roadtrip and we'll have another one this week.''

Freshman Sarah Rohman earned the victory and the shutout. The Santee native had five saves on the day and improved her record to 2-0-1 with two shutouts.

CPP faces host Chico State on Friday. Kickoff is 4:30 p.m.
