CARSON
-- Playing without two regulars in sophomore Lindsey Poulos and Kelly Bonja, the Cal Poly Pomona volleyball was defeated by CSU Dominguez Hills, 3-1 in CCAA play Friday night.

The Broncos, now 3-5 overall and 1-2 in the CCAA, complete the weekend Saturday at Cal State L.A. CSUDH won its first match in eight matches this season.

CSUDH won 9-25, 27-25, 31-29 and 25-16. Freshman Jessica Doerner (Redondo Beach) led CPP with 15 kills and junior Kristin McNeese had 11.

The Broncos took control from the outset in their decisive Game 1 win. They fired .609 attack percentage and were a perfect 9-of-9 on sideouts.

But Games 2 and 3 were slugfests and both went the Toros' way. Tied at 21-21 in Game 2, the Toros had a quick run to post a 24-21 lead. But CPP got a run of its own with a CSUDH attack error, a Sinead Palmer kill and another attack error.

Each team traded points to reach 25-25 before CSUDH took advantage of two Broncos' attack errors for the winner.

Sophomore Taylr Kreutziger threw down a kill late in Game that put CPP at game point (25-24). But the Broncos were called for a wrong server and did not have a chance to possibly win the game.

Three times CPP fought off a game-point situation, but on the fifth effort, CPP had an attack error that became the game-winner for CSUDH at 31-29.

The Toros then took control in Game 4 for the win.
