POMONA – Valerie Strawn's overtime goal (92:18) proved to be the winner on Pack the Stands Day at Kellogg Field. Assisted by Miya Quinn, her shot found the inside right corner of the goal as Cal Poly Pomona defeated Cal State L.A. 2-1. With the win, Cal Poly Pomona moves to 5-1-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the CCAA. Cal State L.A. is now 4-2 overall and 3-2 in the CCAA.
Cal State L.A. scored first (55:25) on a shot by Liz Franco assisted by Stacey Rodwell. Cal Poly Pomona answered at the 72:29 mark on Callie Wilson's first goal of the season and was assisted by Lauren Skachenko. “Both teams played their hearts out tonight,” coach Isabelle Harvey said. “This was an excellent soccer game and we were fortunate to win. “
Cal Poly Pomona resumes the homestand on Sunday with CSU Dominguez Hills with an 11:30 a.m. start, while Cal State L.A. travels to CSU San Bernardino.
