POMONA -- Junior Kristin McNeese had another double-digit kill effort, but the Broncos were stymied by the Academy of Art University Urban Knights, who closed down the Broncos 3-0 in nonconference play during the CPP/CSULA Labor Day Tournament.

The Broncos, now 1-1 overall, complete the day with a match against another PacWest School -- Dixie State at 7 p.m.

Attack errors by CPP and the effort of Dan Yang were critical in the 25-19, 25-20, 25-21 match. The Broncos had 22 attack errors with six service errors and six receiving errors in the three-game loss.

CPP finished 41/22/89 for a .213 attack percentage. They finished the match with a .314 percentage in the third game (17/6/35), but Yang and the Urban Knights were too much.

AAU's Yang led her team with a match-high 16 kills as the Urban Knights fired off a .341 attack percentage (40/11/85) and had 10 block assists.

Freshman Jessica Doerner had nine kills and sophomore Diana Lake had seven.
