POMONA
-- Junior Luis Gonzalezscored a goal and earned an assist as Cal Poly Pomona went on to a resounding 5-0 victory over nonconference foe Dominican in men's soccer Saturday.

Gonzalez, who was the national junior college player of the year last season at Cerritos College, showed some of that talent when he put CPP on the board in the game's 18th minute. He received the ball from about 30 yards out, went one-on-one against his defender, and rifled a shot to the left-side of Penguins GK Matt Carlson.

Eight minutes later, Jonathan Enns padded CPP's lead to 2-0. The ball was free, and Gonzalez  got it to Enns, who popped in the shot right in front of the net.

CPP went into halftime with a 3-0 lead when Anthony Salcedo took advantage of a loose ball and punched it in.

Juniors Wuta Beta and Juan Mejia each added goals in the second half as CPP won its second straight without giving up a goal.

The Broncos out-shot the Penguins 27-8 and had 14 SOG.

GK James Ileshad two saves and Chris Otani, who played the entire second half, had three.

CPP begins CCAA play Thursday when it travels to Sonoma State.
