WALNUT, Calif. -
The Cal Poly Pomona men's and women's track and field teams completed a busy week of competition late Friday, with the Broncos participating in the Mt. SAC Relays and the Bryan Clay Invitational.

The top performance of the day for CPP came in the last women's event Friday, as Tiffany Dinh broke the 17-minute mark across 5,000 meters to shatter her previous season best by nearly 15 seconds. That increases her provisional national qualifier (PNQ) "B" time significantly.

Dinh and her 5,000-meter competitors started the race at approximately 11:30 p.m. to conclude a long day of action in Walnut at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays.

Earlier on Friday, Carter Griffin tallied a provisional national qualifier (PNQ) in the 400-meter dash after crossing the line in 47.77. Jersain Torres raced in the 10,000-meter event late Thursday in Walnut, finishing with a season-high mark of 30:48.72.

To start Friday's action, Diana Zapata led a trio of Broncos in the 1,500-meter race. She posted a time of 4:40.28 to place fifth in the section. Lauren Parr and Fabiola Lugo recorded season-best marks of 4:56.74 and 4:57.27 respectively.

In the 100-meter hurdles, Heather Corder crossed the line in 14.65 while Tramieka Thomas followed close behind at 14.72.

The 4x100 relay group of Mia Moreno, Thomas, Brooke Gamble and Corder put together an impressive performance. They registered a 47.95 mark that narrowly missed the 47.40 provisional time.

Vincent Huitt posted a distance of 165-04 in the hammer throw while Lance Walkington recorded a 198-03 mark in the javelin. During the 400-meter hurdles, Mia Moreno matched her season best.

Another large group of the Broncos' squad competed at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Friday in Azusa.
