IRVINE, Calif. – Despite competing with a smaller squad, the Cal Poly Pomona men's track and field team recorded several solid performances this weekend at the Steve Scott Invitational hosted by UC Irvine.
Jacob Deavers continues to excel in the 400-meter hurdles event and Saturday he posted a 52.58 mark to improve on his provisional national qualifier (PNQ) time.
In the 1,500-meter race,
Ryan Carrell his season-best by a couple seconds with a 3:57.09 time on Saturday.
On Saturday in Irvine,
Jersain Torres raced well in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, crossing the line in 9:23.35 to place fifth while narrowly missing the 9:20.00 qualifying time.
The action at the Steve Scott Invitational prepared the Broncos for the upcoming California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships. The conference meet will be held on the campus of Cal State Stanislaus in Turlock, Calif., from Thursday through Saturday.
