CHICO, Calif. –  A rare goal allowed last weekend might have ended a 405-minute scoreless streak set by the Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer team but now, the Broncos are back to their shutout ways.

On Friday in a cloudy and cool setting at University Soccer Stadium, CPP recorded a 2-0 win over Chico State. The result stretches the Broncos' undefeated streak to six games, the longest stretch of unblemished conference play in program history since 2004.

Friday's victory also makes Sunday's 2 p.m. showdown between CPP and Cal State Stanislaus that much more interesting as both teams carry plenty of momentum. After an overtime defeat of San Francisco State Friday, the CSUS Warriors now own a 10-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, the Broncos continue to keep pace with the South Division leaders in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). CPP holds fourth place with 14 points at 4-4-2, trailing UC San Diego (23 points), Cal State San Bernardino (16) and Cal State L.A. (15).

The Broncos' defensive showing Friday certainly was a team effort. Junior goalkeeper Sarah Rohman collected four saves en route to her 12th career shutout. Providing steady play on the backline were Kristin Mihara, Hannah Leu, Sarah Semenero and Megan Kisslan.

The offense continued to click as CPP put up one score in each of the halves. Arika Ontiveros, a sophomore transfer from Cal State Northridge, tallied her first career score as a Bronco in the 26th minute to open the offense in Friday's match.

Fellow second-year Aneska Alino initiated the scoring chance by blasting a shot from just inside the box. After Wildcats' goalkeeper Brianna Furner deflected the ball off the crossbar, Ontiveros got the rebound and sent a shot to the back of the net.

The Broncos managed to get an insurance goal in the second half when a pair of slick passes, including one from senior Cindy Paez, led to a chance around the penalty area for Veronica Ramos. With a quick spin move on a defender, Ramos placed a close-range shot past Furner to push CPP's edge to 2-0. It represented the third goal of 2012 for Ramos, a senior from Walnut.

With another solid performance in the books, the Broncos will now turn their attention to the nationally-ranked Warriors of Cal State Stanislaus.
