CPP vs Stanny
TURLOCK, Calif. - Mitchel Anderson turned in another spectacular performance Saturday, leading 14th-ranked Cal Poly Pomona to a 63-43 road win at Cal State Stanislaus.

Anderson recorded the fifth double-double outing of his career with 22 points and a personal-best 12 rebounds, helping the first-place Broncos stay undefeated at 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).

CPP held a slim 27-24 edge at halftime but the visitors elevated their level of play in the second period. Terrence Drisdom scored 13 of his 15 points in the second half, playing a key role in the Broncos' pushing out to the 20-point margin by the final buzzer.

Strong rebounding helped fuel CPP's success as the visitors held a daunting 43-26 edge in that category. It was a team effort for the Broncos as 12 of the squad's 13 players to receive minutes Saturday grabbed at least one rebound.

The Broncos limited the Warriors to a lackluster 32.7-percent shooting effort and also turned away four of the hosts' shots. Freshman Jordan Faison collected two blocks, marking the first of his career.

Stanislaus dropped in the first basket of Saturday's game and maintained a lead through the first for minutes of action. CPP tied the score at the 15:45 mark on a three-pointer from Shannon Sharpe and on the next possession, Anderson knocked down a jumper to give the Broncos the lead.

The Warriors failed to reclaim the lead through the remainder of the contest despite the score pushing to a tie three more times before the end of the opening half. A successful field goal from Barry Bell gave CPP the 27-24 edge heading into halftime.

The second half featured plenty of the Broncos' offense and an Anderson three-pointer at the 14:56 mark pushed the visitors' lead to 37-30 and forced the Warriors to call a timeout. That didn't slow down CPP from going on a 21-6 run over the next six minutes to put the game out of reach. Drisdom's splendid shooting arrived frequently in that six-minute stretch and Francois Tchoyi also added a dunk after an offensive rebound.

The margin between the two teams didn't drop below 17 points and the Broncos managed to keep the Warriors scoreless through the final four minutes and 50 seconds. Marcellus Pullum ended up pacing the Stanislaus offense with a team-high 15 points.

CPP will return home to host Bethesda on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 4:30 p.m. It'll be part of a doubleheader at Kellogg Gym with the Broncos' women's basketball team challenging Humboldt State at 6:30 p.m.
