AZUSA & WALNUT, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona men's track and field team showcased its skills in two different meets Friday as the Broncos competed at both the Bryan Clay Invitational and the Mt. SAC Relays.
The CPP 4x400 relay team provided the top highlight with the group of
Brian Crane,
Tanner Terry,
Jacob Deavers and
James Weiner posting a time of 3:12.66 to finish fourth in their heat. The mark ranks at No. 7 in the Broncos' all-time record books and is the second-best time since 1993.
Earlier on Friday at the Mt. SAC Relays, Deavers recorded a 52.91 mark in the 400-meter hurdles event to place second in his section. The senior from Lake Elsinore owns a career best of 52.18 that he raced last month in Claremont.
At Azusa at the Bryan Clay Invitational, junior
Oliver Santiago posted a long jump mark of 21-10.75 to set a new personal record. His previous best came Feb. 25 in Claremont when he went for 21-6.
Fellow third-year
Matt Boudreau ran a strong race in the 110-meter hurdles. He crossed the line in 15.27, marking a new season best for him. Weiner narrowly missed topping his best 2012 time in the 100-meter dash, racing to a 10.91 mark Friday.
The Broncos will return to action on Saturday, April 28 to start the two-day Steve Scott Invite held at UC Irvine.
