POMONA, Calif. - A regular contributor at Division I University of San Francisco for two years, junior transfer Ashley Boggs will now be a member of the Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team in the upcoming 2012-13 season.
For the Broncos this past year, four of the five starting spots were occupied by seniors. With the addition of Boggs, the roster for 2012-13 will feature three seniors and three juniors.
"Ashley brings a lot of versatility to our team," CPP head coach
Danelle Bishop said. "She can play inside and out, she runs the floor well and she understands the game. Ashley leads by example and we know she'll add a lot to our program."
A native of Petaluma, Calif., the six feet tall Boggs graduated from Sacred Heart Cathedral in 2009. In her prep basketball career, she guided the Sacred Heart Cathedral team to three Division III state championships and a national title in 2008.
In her first season with the Dons of USF, Boggs appeared in 29 games while averaging 10.4 minutes per game. She also posted per contest averages of 2.2 points, 1.9 rebounds and 0.3 steals. In a game against Cal State Fullerton, Boggs totaled a season-high nine points.
She elevated her game even further during the 2010-11 campaign, earning 12 starts and receiving an average of 17.1 minutes per game. Boggs ranked fifth on the team in blocks with eight and finished the year with a scoring average of 6.2.
In USF's regular season finale against Loyola Marymount, Boggs tallied 13 points while going 5-for-5 at the free throw line. She also added four rebounds and three assists in that game.
Earlier this month, Bishop announced the
signing of sophomore transfer Rian Mew. In late 2011, Riverside native
Cydnie Jones signed a national letter of intent to join the Broncos' program.
