Box Score | POMONA, Calif. – With strong serving and stellar defense, the Cal Poly Pomona volleyball team captured a 3-1 home win Thursday over Chico State.
The Broncos rolled to a 2-0 lead before the Wildcats got on the board with a win in the third set. CPP bounced back with a dominating 25-17 result in the fourth to close out the victory. To view highlights of the match,

With three wins in their last four matches, the Broncos will return to action Saturday with a 7 p.m. home contest against Cal State Stanislaus. At 4-6 in conference play, CPP is just one win out of fifth place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) standings.
Nicoletta Stork set the tone with her serving, collecting a career-high six aces with three in the opening set.
Zoe Herrera starred defensively with 20 digs while the Broncos demonstrated why they're the top-rated blockers in the league with 15 team blocks on Thursday night.
CPP got consistent setting throughout the match with senior
Katie Colin pacing the team with 23 assists while Stork added 15 of her own.
Lauren Jones led the squad in kills with 13 while
Elle Moffatt contributed 10.
In the opening frame, the Broncos jumped out to a 7-2 lead with early kills from
Jessica Doerner. Stork delivered the key aces later in the set and CPP maintained a sizable margin throughout before taking the 25-21 score.
The second set proved to be a bit closer but the Broncos established a decent advantage once again. The Wildcats rallied to tie the score at 16-16 on a Molly Ratto service ace but CPP finished strong, going on a 5-0 run to eventually take the frame 25-18. Early in that spurt, Jones and Moffatt combined on back-to-back blocks.
Chico State took an 11-6 lead in the fourth set. Although the Broncos rallied late while six tie scores occurred, including a 20-20 tally, the Wildcats closed out the frame on a 5-0 run that featured another two aces by Ratto.
CPP wouldn't be limited on the attack for long though as Jones and Moffatt elevated their play in the fourth to help the host squad close out the 3-1 win. Stork added two more aces in the final stretch before the Broncos captured the 25-17 result in that last frame.
As a team, CPP posted an attack percentage of .187 while holding the Wildcats to a .096 mark.
Alexa Hasen led the Broncos in blocks with six and Moffatt tallied five of her own.
