POMONA, Calif. - The Cal Poly Pomona baseball program will begin its 2014 season on Feb. 1 and in that first month of the schedule, the Broncos will play 10 games at home at Scolinos Field.

Fourth-year head coach Randy Betten and his staff revealed the 2014 schedule that includes 49 regular season games. Heading into the new campaign, CPP returns three All-Conference performers: Bo Walter, Cody Ponce and Jason Padlo.

Walter played well defensively at first base in 2013 while serving as one of the team's top hitters. The Lafayette native hit .343 at the plate and collected a team-high 10 sacrifice hits.

Padlo also played a key role in the Broncos' offense as he hit .326 while getting on base at a .381 clip.

Ponce turned in a stellar freshman season as he led the squad in earned run average at 2.23 and saves with six. Making 20 appearances and four starts, he posted a record of 5-2.

Those three along with outfielders Chris Carlson and Joseph Eusebio lead a strong group of returners for CPP. The 2014 roster features plenty of newcomers as well and their first opportunity for debut at Scolinos Field will be Feb. 3 with the home opener against Point Loma Nazarene.

Another date to circle is Feb. 8, which will feature a 12 p.m. home game as part of Homecoming and Family Weekend. Conference play will open up the next week on Friday, Feb. 14 with a series against Cal State Monterey Bay - the defending regular season champs of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).

April will also be a busy month at home for the Broncos as it'll feature 10 games at Scolinos Field. CPP will host Senior Day on Saturday, April 19, before the Broncos finish the CCAA  regular season the next weekend at Chico State, a squad that finished one win away from reaching the Division II College World Series.
