Daniel Garcia Jr. scored his third goal of the season but the Cal Poly Pomona men's soccer team was outdueled, falling Friday to Cal State Monterey Bay by a 3-1 margin.
Servando Perez tallied two scores for the visiting Otters' squad with his first proving to be the eventual game winner.
With the result, the Broncos fall to 5-6-4 overall and 3-6-4 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Monterey Bay leads the North Division at 7-4-2. Next up for CPP is an 11:30 a.m. home match against San Francisco State.
Through the 90 minutes of action Friday, the Broncos outshot the Otters 17-13. The visitors put eight shots on goal though as compared to CPP's seven.
Monterey Bay got on the board at the 27:01 mark when Juan Montellano capitalized on a rebound chance from about eight yards out. Broncos' goalkeeper

CPP got the equalizer in the 35th minute after passes from
Abiel Coronado and
Jeremy Totays led to a breakaway opportunity for Garcia. With the Otters' goalkeeper charging, Garcia patiently dribbled around and shot the ball calmly across the line to tie the score at 1-1.
Perez took over from there though in the 40th and 71st minutes to lead Monterey Bay to victory. The first of his goals was a volley from about 16 yards away to the left side of the net. His second score came off a rebound attempt after his first shot was cleared at the line by a CPP player.
