Hasen Powers Cal Poly Pomona to 3-0 Sweep in Turlock

Box Score | TURLOCK, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 road victory over Cal State Stanislaus Friday as sophomore Alexa Hasen led the way with 14 kills and a .565 hitting percentage.

As a team, the Broncos hit .281 while limiting the Warriors to a .175 mark. Friday's match was played at Pitman High School just a few miles from the Stanislaus campus.

CPP will play its final match of 2013 on Saturday with a 7 p.m. first serve at Chico State.

The Broncos totaled 14 block assists Friday, including Christen Williams and Lauren Jones notching four apiece. Senior Jessica Doerner collected eight kills, moving into a tie for the No. 10 spot in CPP's all-time record book.

Fellow fourth-year Katie Colin put together an impressive performance Friday, totaling 34 assists and 10 digs for her seventh double-double effort of the season. Colin ranks fifth all-time in assists through the program's history. Sophomore Zoe Herrera added 20 digs Friday to lead the Broncos' defensive effort on the back row.

The first frame on Friday featured plenty of drama as the Broncos withstood four set points for the Warriors and ended up taking a 31-29 result. The final two points of that frame came from Hasen and Jones blocks.

The second set proved to be a lot easier for CPP as the visiting squad got a long serving run from Tatiana Martinez and continued offensive production from Hasen to take a 25-16 result.

Stanislaus held a 23-21 advantage in the third frame but Nicoletta Stork and Williams came through in the clutch to help the Broncos rattle off a 4-0 run to close out the sweep.
