Box Score | POMONA, Calif. – Despite trailing by 18 points at halftime Saturday to Humboldt State, the Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team put together a great comeback to capture its fifth-straight win.

The Broncos scored 46 second-half points en route to a 70-65 victory as junior center Jada Blackwell led the way with a season-high 24 points to go along with nine rebounds and four steals.

The CPP defense held the Jacks scoreless through the final 6:19 and Humboldt didn't convert a field goal through the last 7:22.

CPP played extremely well as a team, notching 18 assists on 24 field goals. Senior J.J. Judge had a tremendous performance Saturday, setting career highs in assists with five and blocks with four. She also added 18 points and seven rebounds.

The first-place Broncos remain undefeated in conference play at 3-0 while holding an overall mark of 6-1. For Humboldt, the loss drops the squad's records to 4-3 overall and 1-2 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).

Although CPP committed 16 turnovers on Saturday, the host squad played solid defense by limiting the Jacks to a 31.7-percent shooting performance. The Broncos also outrebounded HSU, 47-40, as sophomore Cydnie Jones led the way with 10 boards. It marks the fourth time this season she has reached double digits in that category.

CPP jumped out to a 7-2 lead with some early baskets from Blackwell but the visitors quickly reversed the momentum and finished the half on a 12-2 run to take a 42-24 edge into the break.

Judge and Ariel Marsh opened the second half with a pair of three-pointers though and it took the Broncos just four minutes to cut the 18-point halftime deficit into a slim 44-39 lead for the Jacks.

HSU still managed to take a seven-point advantage - 65-58 - with just five minutes remaining in the contest but CPP stormed back at that point. A Blackwell three-point field goal cut the margin to four and a Marsh triple slashed the difference to just one, 65-64, with 3:54 to play.

Blackwell provided the go-ahead basket and the Broncos ended up finishing the game on a 12-0 run as HSU went through a scoring drought of more than six minutes.

The Jacks' offense was led Saturday by Kersey Wilcox and Jae Shin, who combined for 35 of the team's 65 points. Shin knocked down four three-point attempts.

The two squads will challenge each other in Arcata next Saturday with a 5:30 p.m. tipoff at Lumberjack Arena to complete the regular season series.
