Biography
As a Junior in 2013-14: Led the Broncos to the Final Four in Erie, Pa., and finished as a finalist for the NCAA Division II Player of the Year... Also selected to the D-II All-Tournament, becoming the 19th Bronco in school history to receive that recognition and the first since Lauri McIntosh and Aprile Powell earned selection in 2002... At the Elite Eight in Erie, she scored a season-high 35 points in CPP's quarterfinal win over Edinboro and then contributed 22 points in the semifinal loss to eventual national champion Bentley... Through the NCAA postseason, Blackwell totaled 135 points... That mark left her just 15 shy of breaking the all-time Division II record for tournament scoring... She racked up 620 points in the entire 2013-14 campaign, putting her at No. 5 in Broncos' history on the single-season leaderboard... In early March, she was selected as the Daktronics West Region Player of the Year... From there, she went on to receive Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-America First Team honors and earned selection as the Cal Poly Pomona Female Athlete of the Year for 2013-14.... She scored 35 points on two different occasions to set a season high and totaled 14 double-double performances through the year.
At Arizona State: While with the Sun Devils of Pac-12 Conference Arizona State, she provided key contributions during the past two seasons as she played in 49 games during that span... During her freshman season in 2011-12, she finished second on the team in field goal percentage with a .437 mark... In a Pac-12 quarterfinal win over Arizona, she collected 11 points and six rebounds... She saw action in 18 games as a sophomore and in her 16.2 minutes per game, she grabbed 4.5 rebounds and scored 7.1 points each contest... Continuing her efficient play from the previous season, she shot .458 overall from the field.... During the Pac-12 season opener on Jan. 4 at Washington, she scored a career-high 29 points on 12-for-17 shooting while adding eight rebounds.
High School: Graduated from Etiwanda High School in May 2011 after leading the girls' basketball team to a 24-4 record and a CIF State Tournament appearance as a senior... During that season, she earned All-San Bernardino First Team honors while averaging 17 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.2 steals per game.
Personal: Daughter of Tanda and Henry Blackwell... The Blackwell family has an impressive background in athletic success... Her father Henry starred in football at East Carolina and her older brother Perris was an All-West Coast Conference selection at San Francisco before joining the Pac-12 Huskies of Washington this past year... Her cousin DeRonn Scott is a senior on the Broncos' men's basketball team... Communication major... Enjoys shopping, makeup, reading, poetry, concerts, the beach, hiking and eating sushi in her free time... Favorite pro athlete is Kevin Durant... Aspires to own a non-profit organization.
