The Herd's Mascot Tryouts Bring Out the Best in Billy

Billy Bronco is enjoying Cal Poly Pomona's 75th Anniversary this year and you can see him pumping up the crowd at Kellogg Gym.
POMONA, Calif. - Through the middle of November at Cal Poly Pomona's Kellogg Gym, The Herd student fan club held the second annual Billy Bronco tryouts.

Finding spirited students at CPP is never hard but with any mascot tryouts, it's all about finding the intangibles. Dance moves. Sports knowledge. Family friendly.

The 2013-14 leaders of The Herd put 12 tryout participants through a series of questions and tests. After the rigorous competition, votes were tallied to rank the contestants. Fans will be able to witness Billy Bronco in action throughout the current basketball season at Kellogg Gym.

Up next on the Broncos' athletic schedule is a home basketball doubleheader on Saturday with CPP challenging conference rival Humboldt State. The women's game will begin at 5:30 p.m. while the men's game is set for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
