Box Score | HAYWARD, Calif. – Despite capturing a win in the first set Friday in Hayward, the Cal Poly Pomona volleyball team eventually fell 3-1 to Cal State East Bay.
The Broncos held the Pioneers to an attack percentage of .108 through that first set as the host squad committed six errors. East Bay bounced back though, tallying just seven errors the rest of the way.
After entering the match tied with the Pioneers in the standings, CPP falls to 3-8 overall and 1-2 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). East Bay improves to 6-5 overall and 2-1 through league play.

Nicoletta Stork proved to be the top performers for the Broncos on Friday. Harrer collected 10 kills and posted a hitting percentage of .310. Meanwhile, Stork recorded 36 assists while adding five kills.
In that opening frame, CPP went on a four-point run to go ahead 10-5 and the Broncos held the lead the rest of the way. The Pioneers cut the deficit to one at 19-18 after forcing a pair of attack errors, but CPP rallied to win the next four points to pull away and take the first set.
The opening portion of the second set played out fairly evently but East Bay turned an 11-7 deficit into a 14-11 lead with a long stretch of serving by Veronica Sanchez. A junior libero, Sanchez contributed 33 digs and two service aces in the match. The Pioneers took the second set by a score of 25-17.
Facing a 20-15 deficit in the third set, the Broncos got a key kill from Stork and Harrer followed that with a service ace to pull CPP to within 20-17. East Bay finished the frame on a 5-2 run and carried that momentum into the fourth and final set, which ended up 25-15 in the Pioneers' favor.
The Broncos will look to bounce back with a win Saturday as they'll challenge Cal State Monterey Bay at 7 p.m. in Seaside.
