Box Score | HAYWARD, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball six-game winning streak came to an end Friday as the Broncos suffered their first conference loss of the season in an 83-58 result at Cal State East Bay.

There's now a four-way tie for first place atop the conference standings as the Broncos and Pioneers join Cal State Stanislaus and San Francisco State with identical 4-1 records in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).

After losing the rebounding and turnover battles at Pioneer Gym Friday, CPP will get a chance to forget the defeat in a quick return to action Saturday with a 5:30 p.m. game at Cal State Monterey Bay. The Otters suffered a tough overtime loss to Humboldt State Friday.

Junior forward Ashley Lovett paced the Broncos' offense Friday as she collected 12 points and six rebounds, marking the second-straight game that she's reached double-digit scoring. Jada Blackwell added similar totals of 10 points and four rebounds.

Five Pioneer players scored in double figures, including a 21-point and 11-rebound performance from Danielle Peacon. East Bay scored 29 of its points off CPP turnovers.

The Broncos jumped out to a 4-0 lead to start the game on back-to-back baskets from Blackwell and J.J. Judge but the Pioneers responded with five unanswered points. The host squad maintained an advantage for most of the opening half as the margin stayed within single digits.

Junior guard Tyler Woods knocked down a three-pointer off a Judge assist at the 6:59 mark, putting CPP in front 23-22. East Bay reversed the momentum in quick fashion once again though as Micah Walker tossed in a triple to return the lead to the Pioneers, who took a 41-35 edge into halftime.

East Bay built a 7-0 run early in the second period and pushed its margin to as many as 15 points on a couple different occasions. Broncos' junior guard Ariel Marsh knocked down a jumper at the 8:12 mark to cut the difference back to single digits.

After that basket by Marsh though, CPP encountered a scoring drought lasting nearly six minutes. Through that span, the Pioneers posted an 18-0 run to put the game out of reach for the visiting Broncos.

The Pioneers finished with a 56.4-percent shooting effort while CPP managed a 38.2-percent mark. After holding just a six-point lead at the break, East Bay scored 42 points in the second half while limiting the Broncos to 23 points in those final 20 minutes.
