CPP Sweeps Warriors for Third-Straight Win

TURLOCK, Calif. – Cal Poly Pomona volleyball earned its third-consecutive win on Friday as the Broncos swept Cal State Stanislaus. The final score of the sets were 25-17, 25-23, and 26-24.

With the road win, the Broncos improve to an overall record of 9-6, and they own a 7-5 tally in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).

With the loss, CSUS drops to a 2-14 overall mark, and fall to 2-10 in conference.

"What we are trying to learn and teach is competitive maturity," said head coach Rosie Wegrich. "Basically, we want to make sure that we take care of our side of the net. When the team wins you win together."

For the Broncos, Alexa Hasen and Lauren Jones collected 10 kills apiece through the three sets. Hasen also led CPP with 13 points, a .500 attack percentage, and four blocks.

Nicoletta Stork registered 20 assists on the match, with Alina Smith following her and commanding 14 assists of her own.

Through the three sets, the Broncos serverstotaled six service aces. Smith and Tatiana Martinez had two apiece, and Hasen and Stork both got an ace in.

"We grade our passes and serves," said Wegrich, "and tonight our girls scored very highly, it was a well-played match for us."

Warding off any would-be kills, Zoe Herrera tallied 20 digs on the night. Taking second in CPP digs against the Warriors was Deanna Blaine, who finished with 12 of her own, as well as seven points, five kills, and three blocks.

Christen Williams and Jones also collected three blocks. Williams was second in the Broncos' attack percentage category.

The Broncos return to action Saturday night at 7 p.m. as they travel to the Art Acker Gymnasium at Chico State to challenge the Wildcats. Chico is coming off of a 3-1 win over UC San Diego.
