HAYWARD, Calif. – The Broncos sure know how to kick off their California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play. On Friday night CPP's women's basketball team secured a 76-60 victory over the Pioneers of Cal State East Bay.

Ashley Lovett turned in her first double-double of the season as a 7-for-13 performance from the field gave her 17 points and three offensive and seven defensive rebounds brought her up to 10 boards.

The Broncos will carry a 3-2 overall tally a 1-0 in CCAA play into Saturday's game.

With the loss, the Pioneers hold a 4-2 mark on the year, while sitting 0-1 in conference.

Cal State East Bay was first on the board in the game as a jumper and a layup dropped and gave the home team a 4-0 lead. Jada Blackwell scored first for the Broncos after a dish from Tyler Woods proved successful.

Following Blackwell's basket, the Broncos went on a 11-4 run, that gave them a 13-8 lead with 13 to play in the first half. The two squads traded the next few points, until CPP found themselves on another run, this time pushing its lead to 28-15.

The Broncos were last on the board in the first half as back-to-back shots from Lovett and Mian Dingle were good, giving CPP the 13 point lead, heading into the half with the score at 34-21.

With the second half underway, the Pioneers and the Broncos traded shots and maintained the general difference in score. Short, sporadic runs happened for both sides. The largest run was a five-pointer for the Pioneers which was shut down by the Broncos and then countered with four-straight CPP points.

For the night, Blackwell earned the most points and highest percentage, as her 9-for-13 shot count earned her 20 points and a .692 percentage. She also lead the Broncos with three steals.

Dingle sank five of her eight shots for 11 points and added a couple assists. Dishing out the most help for the Broncos was Woods, who handed the ball off seven times en route to the Broncos victory.
