Box Score | ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – After trailing early in the second half Friday at Sonoma State, the 14th-ranked Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team finished strong to capture a 74-64 road victory over the Seawolves.

It marked the sixth-consecutive win for the Broncos, who continue to hold a three-game lead atop the conference standings. CPP is 18-3 overall and 15-2 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) while five games remain on the regular season schedule.

The Broncos outrebounded the Seawolves by a wide margin Friday, 53-34. Junior forward Ashley Lovett led the way with 15 boards to match her season high. She joined fellow third-year Jada Blackwell in recording double-double performances. CCAA leading scorer Ariel Marsh scored a game-high 21 points.

CPP overcame a tough night at the free throw line as the Broncos went 17-for-29 for a 58.6-percent mark. The Seawolves also played tough from start to finish and at the halftime break, CPP was clinging to a 34-31 edge.

SSU started the second half on a 9-2 run to give the Seawolves their largest advantage of the game. The contest featured 19 lead changes in total but the Broncos broke free midway through the closing half.

With the score tied 53-53, Lovett knocked down a pair of free throws and then Marsh sank a three-pointer before Blackwell dropped in a layup to cap off the 7-0 run. After that spurt, the CPP margin wouldn't fall back to a one-possession spread.

Blackwell's performance of 20 points and 10 rebounds represents her third-consecutive double-double and 10th overall for the season. Lovett's totals of 19 points and 15 rebounds is her fourth double-double of the year.

Lauren Goecke and Tyler Woods helped orchestrate the Broncos' offense Friday as they collected respective assist totals of five and four. Blackwell recorded four blocks to match her season high.

The CPP defense limited the Seawolves to a 33-percent shooting effort, including a 6-for-28 showing from beyond the arc.

CPP will return to action with a 5:30 p.m. game Saturday at San Francisco State. The Gators defeated Humboldt State Friday, 72-70.
