Box Score | POMONA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona baseball team cruised to a 12-0 home win over Dixie State Saturday as the Broncos collected 21 hits, including a 5-for-5 effort from senior Joseph Eusebio.

The day was already full of celebration for Homecoming and Family Weekend but the CPP baseball squad gave fans even more to cheer about. With the victory, the Broncos improve to 5-0 on the season.

Junior righthander starter Steven Farnworth earned his first win as a Bronco, throwing five scoreless innings while allowing just two hits. The Valencia native struck out three Red Storm hitters.

A total of five Broncos recorded multi-hit games in Saturday's rout and leading the way alongside Eusebio were Chris Carlson, who went 4-for-5 with three runs scored, and David Armendariz, who collected three hits and scored twice. Eusebio's hit total of five fell just one shy of matching the school record for a single game.

Prior to Saturday's game, CPP held a special first pitch ceremony that included Bronco Hall of Fame members Darrell Miller and Alan Fowlkes. After participating in the "Evening of Champions" celebration on Friday night at the Bronco Student Center, Miller and Fowlkes chatted with the baseball squad Saturday before the game and threw out the two first pitches.

The Broncos got off to a strong start in Saturday's game as the host CPP squad put runs on the board before Dixie could record its first out. Carlson and Bo Walter delivered RBI singles in the first before designated hitter Nick Cooksey added a sacrifice fly later in the frame.

The score remained close at 3-0 until the middle innings, when CPP really started to break the game open. The No. 1 through No. 5 spots in the lineup did most of the damage, collecting 16 of the team's 21 hits.

By comparison, the Red Storm's top five hitters went a combined 1-for-18 at the plate in Saturday's game.

The Broncos and Dixie State will conclude their series on Sunday with an 11 a.m. game at Scolinos Field.
