David Armendariz Selected as 2014 NCAA All-American

David Armendariz is the 28th Bronco baseball student-athlete to receive NCAA Division II All-America honors.

POMONA, Calif. – From the conference's Most Valuable Player to the West Region's Player of the Year, senior outfielder David Armendariz capped off his collegiate career with an NCAA Division II All-American accolade announced Thursday.

Armendariz helped Cal Poly Pomona baseball finish 32-17 overall this season as the Broncos reached the NCAA postseason for the second time in the last four years. The 2014 squad put together a winning percentage of .653, the highest mark in program history since 1983.

The 2014 campaign represents the third season in the last four that the Broncos have compiled a .600+ winning percentage. So far during head coach Randy Betten's tenure, CPP has a record of 125-82.

Among California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) players in 2014, Armendariz ranks first in homeruns with 10 and first in runs batted in with 56. He closed out his senior season with a 13-game hitting streak, including a 3-for-4 effort in his final game.

Armendariz is a Granada Hills native who is a Liberal Studies major. He transferred to CPP before the 2013-14 academic year after starting his collegiate career at Cal Poly SLO in 2010.

The 28th baseball student-athlete in Bronco history to receive All-America honors, Armendariz is the program's third All-American in the last four years during Betten's tenure. The previous two were Travis Taijeron (2011) and Geoff Broussard (2012).
