Broncos Rout San Francisco State 80-43

POMONA, Calif. - In front of a sizeable crowd at Kellogg Gym, the Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team secured an 80-43 victory over the Gators of San Francisco State.
 
Four members of the Broncos reached double digit points, as seniors Ashley Lovett and Jada Blackwell added double-double performances to their resume. Lovett collected 14 points with 11 boards while Blackwell registered 11 points and 10 rebounds. Ariel Marsh tallied a team-high 16 points and Mary Williams put up 11.
 
As a team, the Broncos secured 14 steals on the night with senior Lauren Goecke registering four and Lovett contributing three. Tyler Woods dished out six assists to help the offensive effort.
 
With the victory, the Broncos stay put in their two-way tie for second place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), as their 6-1 conference tally keeps them in line with the Toros of Cal State Dominguez Hills. CPP has registered a 7-3 record on the season. The Gators remain winless as the loss drops them to a 0-11 mark on the year.
 
The Broncos held SFSU to a 27.3 shooting percentage for the game and secured a 48.5 percent mark for themselves. CPP sank 11 free throws to the Gators' six and pulled down 17 more rebounds.
 
To kick things off in Kellogg Gym, Williams gave the Broncos a quick two-point lead. A layup from SFSU gave the Gators the tie, and that is the closest they came to the lead. After that, the Broncos proceeded to pile on points. Almost immediate following the visitor's point, Marsh sank a free throw to kick off a 15-point run in CPP's favor. 

The 15-point run was the first of two double-digit sprees for the Broncos. Tear number two came in the second half. CPP had a 49-26 advantage, and went on a 12-0 run, which ended with a 35-point lead over the Gators. 

In the waning minutes of the game, the Broncos' last point to be exact, Erin Hagan's layup gave CPP a 39-point lead, its largest of the game. A pair of free throws for SFSU, and he game reached its 80-43 final score. 

The Broncos will return to action on Saturday at 5:30, as they host the Sonoma State Seawolves. SSU holds a 6-5 season tally, complete with a 4-3 mark in the CCAA.
