POMONA, Calif. - The Cal Poly Pomona volleyball team is heading to Northern California for two matches this week as it seeks to maintain its playoff position with only four matches left to play.

Currently, the Broncos' record sits at 13-11 overall complete with a 9-7 record in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play. The record is good for fifth in the conference.

With a two-win lead over eighth-place Stanislaus State, the Green and Gold look to finish the season strong and secure their first playoff berth since the 2008 season. The top eight CCAA teams will advance to the conference tournament, which will be held Nov. 19 through Nov. 21 at UC San Diego in La Jolla.

First up for the Broncos this week are the Gators of San Francisco State on Friday at 7 p.m. at Main Gymnasium. The Gators own an identical record as the Broncos, entering the match with a 9-7 CCAA record and a 13-11 overall tally on the year.

In the last meeting between these two teams, CPP secured a 3-1 victory at Kellogg Arena.

Upon completion of the match on Friday, the Broncos will stay up north to challenge the Pioneers of Cal State East Bay on Saturday at 7 p.m. The Pioneers enter the contest with four wins and 20 losses on the year complete with a 2-14 CCAA record.

CPP defeated the Pioneers in four sets in their last match together.

After the Northern California road trip ends, the Green and Gold will return home to take on Cal State Los Angeles in the final home match of the regular season on Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. The match will mark the final time that seniorsÂ

In addition to it being Senior Night, all current and former police, fire and military personnel will receive free admission into the match as CPP celebrates its heroes. Free water bottles will also be handed out to the first 100 fans in attendance.

The team will hit the road after that match and head north yet again to challenge the Otters of Cal State Monterey Bay in the final match of the regular season. The match will be on Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Kelp Bed in Seaside.
