@CPPWBB Carries Win Streak Into CCAA Action

POMONA, Calif. – With two road wins last week, the Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team looks to carry that momentum into the start of California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play this week at Kellogg Arena.

The Broncos will play host to two SoCal rivals, including Cal State L.A. on Wednesday and Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday. Both games will tipoff at 5:30 p.m. as part of doubleheaders in Pomona. CPP owns a 2-4 overall record so far this year and Wednesday's matchup against the Golden Eagles will be the CCAA opener for both squads.

Cal State L.A. has started 2-3 overall and in the team's most recent action on Saturday in Riverside, the Golden Eagles topped Point Loma 60-44. Junior guard Chiara DiMarco is the squad's leading scorer, with 14.6 points per game.

Saturday's opponent – Cal State Dominguez Hills – is 3-6 overall with one conference win. On Nov. 17, the Toros defeated UC San Diego 69-45 to take an early lead in the CCAA standings. This Saturday's game at Kellogg Arena will be the only contest of the week for Dominguez Hills. The Toros' lineup features the league's top scorer, Breanne Garcia, who averages 20.5 points per game.

For CPP, offensive production has been balanced with six players contributing more than six points per game. Leading the way in double figures are Jordyn Shane and Erin Hagan, who own scoring averages of 11.3 and 10.3 respectively. Sophomore forward Priscilla Brooks has been a force in the post, ranking second in the CCAA for rebounds with 11.2 per game while also registering 9.5 points per game for the third-best average on the team.

The Broncos and Toros met three times last year, twice in the regular season and once in the playoffs. Dominguez Hills swept the regular season series but CPP managed to knock off the Toros in the first round of the NCAA D-II Tournament in Alaska.

Donation Drive
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC/BAA) is putting on their First Annual Inland Valley Humane Society Donation Drive in an effort to help the Inland Valley Humane Society collect items from their "wish list." SAAC will be collecting donations at this Wednesday's men's and women's basketball games. To view the IVHSC Wish List, access this PDFGet Acrobat Reader.
