POMONA, Calif.- As the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) schedule began last week, the Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team started off with a split week. Looking ahead, the Broncos will head north to challenge the Otters of Cal State Monterey Bay and the Pioneers of Cal State East Bay.
In the conference opener against Cal State L.A. on Wednesday, the Broncos trampled the Gold Eagles 82-45 as two members of the Green and Gold,
Jordyn Shane and
Mary Williams, reached 20 points. Williams secured a double-double as her 22 points was paired with 10 rebounds in the contest.
On Saturday, CPP hosted the Toros of Cal State Dominguez Hills. The CSUDH squad topped the Broncos 73-66, but despite the loss, the young Broncos' team showed a lot of promise. Williams, the team's lone senior, again recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Shane and
Marshanique Hall each tallied double digit points.
Thus far this season, the Broncos are 3-5 with the split performance in the CCAA. The Otters have tallied a 4-3 record on the season. Last week, they drew a loss in their conference-opener against the UC San Diego Tritons.
CSUMB will begin a homestand this week, as Friday will see them host their first of five-straight games. Stanislaus is tied for first place in the conference with an overall tally of 6-2 and a CCAA competition standing of 2-0.

Jordyn Shane. The Upland native leads the team with 107 total points and an average of 13.4 a game. Williams is second on team in both those categories, but leads Shane with a .578 shooting percentage.
With eight to her name this season, Hall leads the CPP team in the three-point category. Right behind the junior are Shane,

After the Broncos challenge the Otters, their trip takes them a little farther north as they play visitor to the defending CCAA Tournament Champions, the Pioneers of Cal State East Bay. The Pioneers have been sticking to their momentum from last season as they lead the conference standings, tied with Stanislaus State with a conference record of 2-0 en route to an overall 6-2 showing this season.
