POMONA, Calif. - Cal Poly Pomona head women's basketball coach Danelle Bishop has announced the addition of Sabrina White to the Broncos' coaching staff. White officially began her role on August 6, 2026.
 
White comes to Cal Poly Pomona after spending five seasons at fellow California Collegiate Athletic Association member Cal State LA, bringing nearly two decades of coaching experience along with a background that includes work in the NBA, WNBA, player development, scouting, and sports business.
 
"I'm excited to work with Coach Sabrina, who has long been familiar with Cal Poly Pomona's success," Bishop said. "Her extensive connections within women's basketball and proven track record in the CCAA make her a tremendous addition to our program."
 
During her tenure at Cal State LA, White helped the Golden Eagles emerge as a consistent contender in the CCAA and NCAA West Region. Over her first four seasons with the program, Cal State LA compiled a 93-53 overall record and a 72-35 mark in conference play while making four consecutive CCAA Tournament appearances. In 2025-26, White helped lead the team to its first CCAA Tournament title, coincidentally defeating Cal Poly Pomona in the championship game. 
 
White helped guide the Golden Eagles to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2022-23 and 2023-24, the first time in program history Cal State LA accomplished the feat. The 2022-23 squad went 20-10, recording the program's first 20-win season since 2013, and established a program record with 16 conference victories.
 
In 2023-24, Cal State LA finished 17-13, advanced to the CCAA Tournament semifinals for a third consecutive season, and earned the No. 8 seed in the NCAA West Regional. The Golden Eagles followed with an 18-10 record in 2024-25 and finished ninth in the final NCAA West Region rankings.
 
For White, joining the Broncos also represents a return to a program that played a role in her introduction to the college game.
 
"Coming to Cal Poly Pomona feels full circle for me," White said. "I was once a camper under the legendary Darlene May, learning from someone who helped shape the foundation of women's basketball here. I grew up knowing the rich history of this program, its connection to Title IX, and what it meant to be part of something bigger than basketball."
 
White's ties to CPP continued during the tenure of former two-time national champion head coach Paul Thomas, when she served as a ball girl and had an up-close view of the Broncos' championship tradition.
 
"I was even a ball girl during the Paul Thomas era, watching championship culture and a legacy of excellence being built right in front of me," White said. "Decades later, I have friends who are Hall of Famers from this program, women who helped write the history I grew up admiring."
 
Prior to Cal State LA, White spent two seasons at Biola from 2019-21, helping the Eagles during their transition to NCAA Division II. During her time with the program, Biola achieved the most wins in program history and earned a No. 1 defensive ranking.
 
White also brings extensive experience from the professional basketball ranks. In the summer of 2024, she participated in the NBA Assistant Coach Development Program and coached at both the G League Elite Camp and NBA Draft Combine.
 
In 2022, White was one of 96 participants, including eight women, selected to attend the Sports Business Classroom, where she worked with NBA scouting and video personnel and received training in scouting, video, and analytics. Representing the Indiana Pacers, White and her team won a mock draft competition presented before NBA general managers and executives.
 
She has also participated in an NBA analytics assistant basketball coaching program, receiving instruction in in-game adjustments, video editing, scouting reports, practice planning, and analytics-based player development.
 
White's professional basketball experience also includes serving as an ambassador for the Los Angeles Sparks during the franchise's 2016 WNBA championship season. She has worked as a professional skills trainer for WNBA Enterprises LLC, a youth development specialist for Team USA, and an international basketball scout for TPG Sports Inc.
 
Before entering the collegiate ranks, White spent nearly a decade as a high school coach, serving as a head varsity girls basketball coach in the Garden Grove Unified School District from 2006-15, where she rebuilt the program into a championship contender.
 
White earned a Bachelor of Arts in exercise science from Concordia University Irvine and a master's degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia.
 
"To now have the opportunity to be at Cal Poly Pomona is more than just coming to a new place," White said. "It feels like coming home to a piece of the history that helped shape me. Now I get to bring my own chapter to that legacy. Nearly two decades of coaching, along with experiences with the NBA, WNBA, player development, scouting, and building programs. I'm excited to pour all of that back into a place that helped shape me. Full circle."
