Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

CPP Wins 77-48, Drisdom Nets 1,000th Point

TURLOCK, Calif. – With Terrence Drisdom reaching career point No. 1,000 Friday, the first-place Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team cruised to a 77-48 road victory over third-place Cal State Stanislaus.

Barry Bell secured a career-high eight assists and four CPP players scored in double figures. Jordan Faison led the way with 15 points on a 6-for-9 effort while Drisdom added 10 points of his own.

Also in the double-digit point category for the Green and Gold was Bell with 12 and Jordan Finn with 14, including three from beyond the arc. The Broncos spoiled the Warriors' Homecoming Game, which was played in front of 1,928 fans in Turlock.

Collectively, the Broncos committed just seven turnovers in the contest while forcing 20 on the home team.

With the win, the Broncos improve to a 12-3 mark in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and 16-4 overall. Stanislaus has earned a 13-7 mark on the year, complete with a 10-5 mark in conference play.

Two strong defensive opponents came to play in the opening minutes of the first half, and neither team scored until the clock read 18:17 and Drisdom sank his three. After that, the Broncos opened the floodgates and before they could react, the home team was down 10-0.

While they were able to tack on a few points here and there, any hopes the Warriors had in the first half of getting a major run were dashed by the CPP defense.

The Broncos put together a pair of double-digit runs and the two squads entered halftime with the scoreboard reading 43-21.

Coming out of the break, things started slowly again offensively as only three baskets were made total in the first few minutes. A few pieced together for Stanislaus gave them their largest run of the game. Not to be outdone, the Broncos answered back with a quick six-point spree of their own.

The Broncos put together three double-digit runs in the game. The final points came with a layup for Finn and a free throw for the Warriors to give the game its 77-48 result.

CPP will return to action Saturday as they take on the Chico State Wildcats in a showdown of first-place teams.
