WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – The athletic skill of the Cal Poly Pomona Athletic Department in the 2014-15 season is nicely complimented by the academic success of its student-athletes. An impressive 52 Broncos across all 10 sports have been named to the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Academic Awards list.
Â
The athletic department saw a substantial amount of success on the fields and courts this past season, and was rewarded with the Robert J. Hiegert Commissioner's Cup, signifying the most successful athletic department in the conference.
Â
In order to earn a spot on the list, student-athletes must have earned a varsity letter from the institution; ergo no red-shirts were eligible. They must have been a team member of one of the 12 CCAA-sponsored sports.
Â
Undergraduate students must earn an academic grade point average for the 2014-15 season of 3.40 or higher in a minimum of 36 quarter units completed at the certifying institution. Undergrads who were set to graduate mid-year must have earned a 3.4 GPA or higher in all units taken the final academic year of attendance.
Â
The final rule of the award is that graduate students are not eligible for the CCAA All-Academic Awards. This addition was implemented in January of 2013.
Â
