POMONA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team was defeated by the UC San Diego Tritons 64-50 on Saturday night. The contest was the last of a three-game home stand the Broncos were playing.
The loss drops the Green and Gold to a season tally of 7-13, complete with a 5-8 mark in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Drawing the win in the contest, the Tritons, who sit at second in the conference now hold a CCAA record of 12-2 en route to their season tally of 17-3.
With a double-double in the contest, the Broncos' standout player in the contest was
Priscilla Brooks. The sophomore sank 6-of-11 shots taken and one free throw en route to her 13 points. She also racked up 16 rebounds in the matchup, one block, and one steal.

Mary Williams sank 5-of-6 shots and three free throws to reach her 13. She also added seven rebounds to the game and a pair of assists.
As a team, the hometown Broncos shot 31.1% from the field, sinking 19 shots. The Green and Gold were more active in the game underneath the net as they recorded 18 second chance points to the UCSD squad's 13. CPP registered 28 points in the paint and limited the Tritons to 12.
The Broncos' bench was also more active than that of the Tritons. CPP's bench sank a total of 19 points in the contest and the hometown defense limited the visitor's bench to merely seven points.
UCSD gained their advantage from a distance, they limited the Broncos' offense to just one shot made from beyond the arc and they themselves sank 11 long balls.
The Broncos will return to action next week as they head north to challenge the Sonoma State Seawolves and the San Francisco State Gators.
On Friday, Feb. 5, the Green and Gold will play a 5:30 contest against the Seawolves. SSU has thus far amassed a 8-14 overall tally and a 3-10 mark in the CCAA. They will be hosting after dropping their past three games to the Pioneers, Golden Eagles, and a 68-60 loss to the Toros in Carson on Saturday.
The Gators hold an identical 3-10 record in conference play en route to a season tally of 5-14. They will host the Jacks of Humboldt State on Friday before defending their home court from the Broncos at 5:30 on Saturday, Feb. 6.
