TURLOCK, Calif. - The Cal Poly Pomona volleyball team dropped a 3-0 result on Saturday at Stanislaus State.
Among the bright spots for CPP were another 20-dig effort from
Samantha Figueroa and an efficient offensive performance by
Alexandra Gresham. Despite Gresham's hitting mark of .409, the host Warriors' squad limited the Broncos' offense to an attack percentage of .070.Â
The loss drops CPP to 4-10 overall and 0-5 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Stanislaus State improves to 6-8 overall and 3-2 in league play.
Gresham finished as the lone Broncos' player with double-digit kills at 11.
Alina Smith led the team in assists with 18 while Figueroa added 20 digs.
The two teams traded the lead early in the opening set until the Warriors put together a 6-0 run to take a 20-13 edge. Stanislaus took the first frame 25-22.
The Warriors carried the momentum in the second set, which finished 25-14 in favor of the hosts. Into the third frame, CPP jumped out to a 7-3 edge when Gresham and
Natalia Perry combined for a block.
Later in the set,
Andrea Bosnic added a kill to make it a 15-11 lead for the Broncos. Stanislaus State put together a 9-1 run at that point though and wrapped up the 25-21 result to finish the 3-0 victory.
