Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

CPP's Four-Game Win Streak Snapped Sunday

CHICO, Calif. - Despite holding Chico State scoreless through the first 87 minutes of play on Sunday, the Cal Poly Pomona men's soccer team gave up a late goal and lost 1-0 on the road.

The Wildcats' victory snapped the Broncos' four-game winning streak. At 8-3-1 overall and 4-2-0 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), CPP is now in a tie for second place in the conference standings with Cal State Dominguez Hills. One point ahead is first-place Sonoma State.

Chico outshot the Broncos 14-7 on Sunday but the score remained 0-0 until the 87:37 mark. That's when Rajaee DeLane got behind the CPP defense and sent a cross to Esten Schroeder, who knocked in a 12-yard shot inside the far post for the game winner.

The Broncos' offensive chances were limited as the visitiors posted two shots on goal through the 90 minutes. Dante Medina led CPP with three shots, including one on target.

In the final moments of regulation, Broncos' midfielder Eshel Chardon attempted a shot but it was blocked by the Wildcats' defense and cleared out the box.

CPP will return home to host Stanislaus State on Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff. It'll be a "Pack the Stands" event and the first 75 CPP students arriving to the 4:30 p.m. women's game will receive a free mini USB car charger.
