POMONA, Calif. – After playing on the road in the last two weekends, the Cal Poly Pomona volleyball team returns home to host Cal State San Bernardino this Saturday.
First serve is set for 7 p.m. at Kellogg Arena. After going winless through the past six matches, the Broncos will look to turn things around in their match against the Coyotes.
San Bernardino is coming off a loss against the Chico State Wildcats. The Coyotes currently stand at 9-4 overall and 3-2 in CCAA play. This will be the first time that these two teams face each other this season. Cal State San Bernardino is currently in third place in the CCAA South Division.
So far this season, the Broncos are 0-2 at home. Team leaders
Deanna Blaine and
Alexandra Gresham are currently leading the team in kills with a total of 284 kills combined this season.
While
Alina Smith leads the squad in assists with 385, a pair of CPP freshmen have also contributed to that category.
Kay Powell has collected 66 assists and
Kalea Vizmanos has totaled 57 so far this season.
After Saturday's home match, the Broncos will hit the road for their next three contests. CPP is scheduled to come back home on Oct. 21 to take on Cal State Dominguez Hills. For that event, the first 100 CPP students will receive a free tumbler courtesy of University Housing Services.
