POMONA, Calif. – Following a short trip to San Diego to start the season, the Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team will extend its itinerary this week with a pair of games in Montana.
 
As part of the Yellowjacket Classic hosted by Montana State Billings, the Broncos will challenge Black Hills State on Friday at 4:30 p.m. Pacific (5:30 p.m. Mountain). Then on Saturday, CPP challenges the host MSUB at 4 p.m. Pacific. Both of the Broncos' opponents this week possess the Yellowjackets' mascot and team name.
 
So far this season, the Broncos hold a 1-1 mark. In the opener at Point Loma, CPP lost 61-57. One day later, the Broncos topped Azusa Pacific 67-56.
 
CPP has dominated the rebounding category, grabbing 101 boards so far while limiting opponents to just 68. Priscilla Brooks has averaged a team-high 11 rebounds per contest.
 
Junior Chelsea Waddy-Blow has led the Broncos' offense, averaging 13 points per game with 17 in the opener against Point Loma. She has knocked down 12 of her 13 free throw attempts.
 
Despite the team posting a 31.4 field goal percentage so far in 2016-17, freshman Dominique Dotson has shined with an individual mark of .714 while knocking down five of her seven attempts.
 
Black Hills State, a Division II team out of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), is 0-1 this season with an opening loss to Northern State. Last year, BHSU advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
 
Montana State Billings has been a familiar opponent for the Broncos during the era of CPP head coach Danelle Bishop. Early in the 2015-16 season, the Broncos lost to the Yellowjackets 68-51. Prior to that, the most recent meeting was the 2014 West Region title game when CPP won 75-68 at Kellogg Arena.
